Peter Dinklage began his professional acting career in his debut film, Living in Oblivion (1995). Since then, he has starred in many movies and TV shows. He was in The Station Agent (2003), the musical film Cyrano (2021), and Game Of Thrones (2011) as Tyrion Lannister throughout its eight seasons.
Dinklage, now 53, questions if he wants to keep pursuing acting for the next three decades. At a press conference for Dinklage’s yet-to-be-released film, She Came To Me (2023), he, alongside his cast members, was asked how they dealt with creative blocks.
“I’m 53. I wonder if I want to be an actor for the next 30 years,” Dinklage answered. “It’s a fork in the road. It’s a common story when you hit 50: there’s a fork in the road and you either wait for inspiration or you seek it out, and I intend to keep seeking it out.” (Via Variety)
“Actors sit around waiting for the jobs to come,” Dinklage said. “Painters can paint, writers can write, musicians can play… actors don’t have that ability. So, we have to wait around or create and collaborate on our own things. The question is, what inspires you? What inspires me is the written word at that point in my life. I couldn’t have played this [role] 20 years ago or 20 years from now.”
She Came To Me is a comedy-drama. Dinklage plays Steven, a composer suffering from panic attacks and creative block. After a one-night stand, Steven’s passion for his art is reinvigorated. The film is written and directed by Rebecca Miller and is set to release on February 16, 2023, at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival.
