Actor Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine) has been joined the cast for Parker Finn’s (Smile) remake of Possession (1981). Dano will be starring in the remake along with Margret Qualley (The Substance) and Callum Turner (Master’s of the Air). The movie is also being produced by Robert Pattinson (The Drama). As of now no information has been confirmed about filming or which actor is playing what character.

The original 1981 version was written and directed by Andrej Zulawski and starred Isabelle Adjani (Nosferatu the Vampyre) and Sam Neill (Jurassic Park). The movie centered around Adjani’s character’s Anna having an affair while married to Neill’s character Mark. As Mark tries to confront his wife’s affair partner, more and more is revealed that Anna has been hiding more than an affair.

Though this news of Paul Dano is recent, Finn has been teasing this movie since 2024. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly for his movie Smile 2, Parker says, “We’re planning a viciously sharp, crazy, insane film. It’s going to have all the teeth and ferocity that the original had, but I want to do something that pays homage and honors the original but is also a spiritual successor that’s in dialogue with the original, that has some new explorations in it.”
