In addition to Jason Mamoa reprising his role as Aquaman, the upcoming sequel Aquaman 2 will be joined by a returning Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master. The first film ended with Wilson’s Prince Orm being defeated by his half-brother Aquaman, who was then crowned the new king of Atlantis. This isn’t uncharted territory for Wilson though, who has been a frequent collaborator with Aquaman director James Wan both the Insidious and Conjuring films.
During an interview for THR, Wilson mentioned his reprisal while talking about his newest movie Midway, which depicts a battle with the Japanese during World War 2 following Pearl Harbor. Patrick stated that he’s been “slightly briefed on Orm-related matters,” only fueling more anticipation for the much desired superhero sequel. Wilson even mentioned that Wan’s ideas are expanding, confirming similar comments from Mamoa. Due to respect for Wan and his ideas, Wilson felt it was better to keep tight lip of any spoilers for the future film.
Soon after the first movie was released, production for Aquaman 2 was already getting started by Wan. Alongside Momoa and Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is also set to return as Black Manta which was almost a certainty given the film’s mid-credit scene. Aquaman 2 will release on December 16th, 2022.
