Patrick Wilson and Liv Tyler Star in ‘Space Station 76’ Trailer

A new Space Station 76 trailer shows what it would be like to step into a 1970s version of the future. Jack Plotnick directed this sci-fi comedy, which focuses on humans’ interactions with each other and futuristic robots.

The film’s aesthetics were carefully staged to create a sense of 70’s nostalgia. Space Station 76 stars Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring) as Captain Glenn, a gay depressed leader with a drinking problem. Additional cast members include Liv Tyler (The Lord of the Rings) as the professional, yet troubled Jessica and Matt Bomer (The Normal Heart) as the pothead married to Misty (Marisa Coughlan).

The trailer (below) demonstrates the film’s approach to an infrequently mastered blend of genres. As secrets in a space station are uncovered, the characters find it difficult to accept the truth about each other.

The film was first shown at SXSW in March, where it was picked up by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions. In review from Twitchfilm the movie was said to, “wisely [meditate] with genius comedic allegory.”

News for the release date of Space Station 76 will zoom in soon.
