The new trailer of Sam Taylor-Johnson’s (No-Where Boy) Fifty Shades of Grey is here and it’s hot. The film is Kelly Marcel’s adaptation of E.L. James’ novel, which centers on the relationship between the English student, Anastasia Steele and billionaire, Christian Grey. What starts as an innocent interview quickly escalates into a love affair, complicated by sadomasochism.
Although the book was dismissed by some as poorly written porn for bored housewives, the first of the 50 Shades trilogy rose to become the fastest selling paperback ever – even surpassing J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. According to Business Insider, the novel was number one on the New York Times Best-seller list for thirty weeks. Since then, 100 million copies have been sold worldwide. In no time, studios were lining up to adapt the story for the big screen.
Universal and Focus have debuted Fifty Shades of Grey’s (below) first trailer. In it, you can find Dakota Johnson (21 Jump Street) star as the naive virgin Steele and Dornan (Once Upon a Time) playing an intimidating Grey.
From the small glimpses of the pair in an elevator to their entrance to the “Red Room of Pain,” this trailer is spicier than the recent teaser. In fact, the trailer’s inclusion of bondage was too hot for the Today Show to air on television.
The author, James is still on board as a producer of the film, with actors who are relatively new. Only time will tell if Fifty Shades of Grey lives up to the fan’s fantasies and the erotic book’s success. Get ready for one tantalizing Valentines Day come 2015, when the heated film hits theaters.
