Patrick Schwarzenegger Joins Theo James And Vince Vaughn In Mafia Thriller ‘The Bookie & The Bruiser’

Patrick Schwarzenegger in season three of Mike White's 'The White Lotus' (2021-)

Patrick Schwarzenegger might be facing his most challenging role yet, as he has been confirmed to play twin brothers in S. Craig Zahler’s upcoming mafia feature, The Bookie & The Bruiser. The White Lotus actor will be starring opposite Theo James and Vince Vaughn. Deadline detailed the plot synopsis,
Set in 1959 New York City and features a pensive Jewish fellow named Rivner (James) and an oversized Italian-American tough named Boscolo (Vaughn). Having served in World War II, the two return as changed men, no longer fitting into their old lives. Unwilling to take orders or play by the rules of polite society, the two partner up as a bookmaker and his enforcer and run an illicit gambling operation that proves highly profitable — but dangerous. Their operation thrives until they’re caught in a violent power struggle between the Mafia and an Irish gang, forcing them into a violent fight for survival.
Schwarzenegger will portray twins Bernard and Augie, the latter described as a “desperate, down-on-his-luck gambler” who puts Rivner and Boscolo in danger by crossing rival New York crime factions after trying to escape a crushing debt. Bernard is described as the “respectable, family man” of the two, who is also drawn into danger by his brother’s deception. The son of the famous bodybuilder-turned-actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has a lot on his plate project-wise. He has two films already in post-production: Florian Zeller’s thriller Bunker and Rachel Morrison’s romance drama Love of Your Life. Schwarzenegger has also been confirmed to star as Augustus ‘Gus’ Everett opposite Phoebe Dynevor in the upcoming adaptation of Emily Henry’s novel Beach Read.
Zahler, known for films such as Bone Tomahawk and Brawl in Cell Block 99, has written and will direct the feature. No production date has been confirmed as of yet.
