Actors Madeline Brewer, Emory Cohen, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez have joined the cast of Smile director Parker Finn’s upcoming remake of Possession. These actors join an ensemble already consisting of Margaret Qualley, Callum Turner, Paul Dano, and Diego Calva.
Actress Madeline Brewer is known for her roles in the TV series The Handmaid’s Tale, You, and the feature thriller Anniversary. Emory Cohen is known for her roles in Brooklyn, The Place Beyond the Pines, and Marty Supreme. Nicholas Alexander Chavez is the breakout star of the Netflix series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, and is also known for his roles in Grotesquerie and General Hospital.
The film is a remake of director Andrzej Žuławski’s 1981 cult classic psychological horror film, which starred Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill. Like the original film, the upcoming remake will follow a collapsing marriage that soon devolves into acts of infidelity, moments of body horror, and sinister supernatural forces.
Parker Finn is directing from his own script and is also producing under his production company Bad Feeling. Other producers include Jonathan Fass, Andrew Childs, Roy Lee, and actor Robert Pattinson.
The film will be released by Paramount Pictures. A release date isn’t currently known.
