Paramount Releases Scenes for Upcoming Comedy ‘What Men Want’

Paramount has just released a new TV spot for their upcoming comedy What Men Want. The ad features Taraji Henson acquiring the ability to read the minds of the opposite sex. In the TV spot we see Henson putting her newfound telepathic ability to good use in both her professional and personal life. While the ability to read men’s minds can be helpful, the ad also reveals some of the negative consequences in always hearing the chauvinistic thoughts of your peers and co-workers. The ad seems to confirm the comedy’s intention to use its platform as a social satire of the modern misogyny that still dominates patriarchal structures deeply ingrained in sports, corporate culture, and hetero normative dating.

The TV spot flexes some of the comedy’s star studded cast. Along with lead actor Taraji Henson, the ad shows scenes with high-profile stars, Tracy Morgan (30 Rock), Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids), Aldis Hodge (Underground), and Max Greenfield (New Girl). The TV spot also features prominent sport personalities, Shaquille O’Neal, Mark Cuban and Brian Bosworth.

What Men Want is the latest project for director Adam Shankman (Hairspray). While the film is technically “gender switch” remake of the original Mel Gibson film What Women Want, What Men Want seems to address more relevant and controversial topics than its predecessor. Watch the ad in the link below.

What Men Want is set to release in theaters on February 8.
