Paramount Pictures has picked up Darren Aronofsky’s (The Wrestler) latest film starring Jennifer Lawrence (Joy) and Javier Bardem (Escobar), according to Variety. The film, which has yet to be titled, follows a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests show up at their home.
Lawrence joined the project after dropping out of Richard Linklater’s (Everybody Wants Some) The Rosie Project in October. Bardem is reportedly in talks to join the film. Aronofsky wrote the film and is producing through his company Protozoa Pictures along with Scott Franklin and Ari Handel. This is Aronofsky’s first film since 2014’s Noah which was a monetary success, grossing $362.6 million worldwide despite being a disappointment in the U.S. Paramount also distributed Noah.
Aronofsky was previously attached to an Evel Knievel biopic starring Channing Tatum (The Hateful Eight). He’s also producing the biopic Jackie, starring his Black Swan lead Natalie Portman.
No specific release date has been announced for Aronofsky’s latest but the film is set to start shooting this spring with a 2017 release. We’ll have more on the film as it develops.
