Stephen King has become one of the most renowned writers of the 20th century, with many of his books being heralded as “must-reads” and several receiving film adaptations with a wide range of success. Pet Sematary, Stephen King’s 1983 novel, was first made into a horror flick in 1989 to a solid box office. Paramount has announced that it will be remaking the film and has given a release date of April 19, 2019. Paramount has also announced that it will be releasing another film, Instant Family, around the same time, with a release date of February 15, 2019, according to Variety.
Pet Sematary follows the story of a family who is plagued by paranormal activity after moving to a home in Maine that is next to a pet cemetery, which has the ability to bring the dead animals back to life. Variety mentioned in October that Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer were pegged to direct the film. Unlike the previous film, King will not be writing the script. Instead, Jeff Buhler and David Kajganich are set to write the script.
Instant Family follows the story of a young couple who decide to create a family by adopting through foster care. This leads the couple to adopting three rowdy children, which they must learn to love to take care of and love. Currently, Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne have been tagged to play the protagonists.
