‘Paddington 3’ to Begin Filming in Early 2022

Our favorite polite young bear is returning to the big screen for a third film. Collider reports that StudioCanal has announced that Paddington 3 is set for an early 2022 production date, some time in the second quarter of the year.

The highly anticipated third installment for StudioCanal is a story led by Paul King, Simon Farnaby, and Mark Burton. The screenplay is also written by Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamont. King directed the first two Paddington films but will not be returning to direct; instead, he will executive produce the film.

StudioCanal CEO Anna Marsh also tells Collider, “Our beloved bear is truly part of the family.”

As of now, the director, cast updates, and shooting location for Paddington 3 are to be revealed, but Ben Whishaw is anticipated to return as the voice of the young Peruvian bear. Whishaw reprised the role in The Adventures of Paddington, StudioCanal’s animated series produced with Heyday Films and Nickelodeon.

StudioCanal’s first two films were praised for their humor and heartwarming messages. Impressive starring roles were also featured from actors like Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant. The films were so successful that Paddington 2 maintained a perfect critic’s score on Rotten Tomatoes for a considerable amount of time, outranking even Citizen Kane.

It may be a while before this fun-loving bear returns to the big screen, but audiences can stream Paddington free on Peacock and The Adventures of Paddington on Hulu or Nick Jr. Stay tuned!
