After almost 3 decades have passed since the release of action epic and heist film classic Heat, but that is not stopping the film’s writer-director Michael Mann from releasing an follow up novel Heat 2 on August 9th of this year. The book is set to follow the lives of criminal mastermind Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) and his counterpart the obsessive Lt. Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) before and after the first film’s events.
The book has caused some film industry buzz as Pacino has recently been asked about who would play his role in a potential film adaptation of the novel. Pacino named Timothée Chalamet as an potential lead if their ever was an second Heat film. “Timothée Chalamet,” Pacino said on Friday evening at the Tribeca Festival which held a Q&A panel and screening of the film. “I mean, he’s a wonderful actor. Great looks.”
The celebration of the 25th anniversary of the film had been delayed for 2 years due to COVID concerns surrounding the event. Nevertheless the celebration of the film went on Friday without a hitch. The crowd gave both Pacino and De Niro an standing ovation for the pair, and shouted many iconic lines from the film at them. It was a welcome celebration for all, except for Mann’s testing positive for COVID which he revealed in a video message.
