According to Deadline, Pablo Schreiber (TV’s Orange is the New Black) and O’Shea Jackson, Jr. (Straight Outta Compton) are set to join the cast of Diamond Film Productions’ Den of Thieves. Gerard Butler (London Has Fallen) and Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson (Spy) are already on board the crime thriller.
Christian Gudegast makes his feature directorial debut and will helm from a script he co-wrote with Paul Sheuring. The story follows the lives of an elite unit of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department which intersect with California’s most successful bank robbery crew planning a heist on the Federal Reserve Bank in downtown L.A.
STX has secured U.S. distribution rights. Producers are Tucker Tooley and Mark Canton as well as Butler and Alan Siegel from G-BASE, Butler’s production company. Executive producers are Glenn Feig of Diamond Film, Scott Lumpkin and Jamie Marshall.
Schreiber portrayed George “Pornstache” Mendez on Orange is the New Black, and will be in this year’s Starz series American Gods. Jackson was in 2015’s critically lauded Straight Outta Compton. His next film, Ingrid Goes West, co-starring Aubrey Plaza (Dirty Grandpa) and Elizabeth Olsen (Captain America: Civil War), will premiere at Sundance this month.
Den of Thieves is scheduled to begin shooting next month in Atlanta.
