The original Overboard released in 1987 and featured a rich woman who falls overboard and gains amnesia. A carpenter, who was treated poorly by her, decides to lie and tell her she’s his wife. The carpenter takes the woman back home and brings her down to earth by introducing her to honest work. It starred Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell as the falsely married couple, who are actually married in real life. The new Overboard has decided to revise the story, as seen in this trailer:

Instead of a hard-working man and a lazy, rich woman, the roles have been swapped. Kate is a single working mother who is hired by Leonardo, a wealthy man, to clean the carpets on his yacht. After Leonardo unfairly fires her and destroys her equipment, he parties heavily and falls off of his yacht, waking up on an beach with no recollection of who he is. This leads Kate to pretend to be his wife and makes him earn his keep in their “family” home, something he has never done.
Kate and Leonardo are played by Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez, and the two are surrounded by a solid cast including Eva Longoria, John Hannah, and Josh Segarra. The film is being directed and written by Bob Fisher and Rob Greenberg. The film is set to release on April 20th, 2018, and we hope it will be able to attract a solid new audience while still being able to pander to the original.
