While Oscar predictions have been scrambled across categories, Warner Bros. Studios has secured territory in almost every major category. According to lists from ScreenRant and Collider, Warner Bros. is the studio behind many frontrunners in the major categories.
For Best Picture, both sites put their current top 3 frontrunners as Hamnet, One Battle After Another, and Sinners. Warner Bros. distributed two out of the three titles.
For Best Director, Collider has One Battle After Another‘s Paul Thomas Anderson in first, Hamnet‘s Chloé Zhao in second, and Sinners‘ Ryan Coogler in third. Again, two films were distributed by Warner Bros.
It’s the same story in the Best Actor category. The current frontrunner is Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme. However, Leonardo DiCaprio in One Battle After Another and Michael B. Jordan in his dual role in Sinners follow just behind.
One Battle After Another has two actresses listed in the top 5 as frontrunners in the supporting actress category. Teyana Taylor and Regina Hall are in the second and fifth spots, respectively. The film also has multiple actors in the running for Best Supporting Actor, with Sean Penn in second and Benicio del Toro in fifth. Not to mention that Collider has Sinners‘ Miles Caton and Delroy Lindo also in the running.
Collider listed Sinners as the number one frontrunner for Best Original Screenplay and Best Casting, with One Battle After Another as the top contender for Best Adapted Screenplay, and taking the second spot in the Best Casting category.
All in all, it certainly looks like Warner Bros. will have a successful awards season, with two of its most successful films of the year competing for awards in many major categories.
