Fresh of his Oscar-nominated performance in Call Me By Your Name, and further recognition in the Oscar-nominated Lady Bird, Timothée Chalamet is on quite roll, now picking up a starring spot in a new Netflix film surrounding the life of King Henry V, according to Deadline.
David Michôd, director of Animal Kingdom and The Rover, will be helming The King with Joel Edgerton and Brad Pitt producing under his Plan B banner. Chalamet is the first and only casting so far on the project.
Henry V came to power in England at a very young age in the fifteenth century after his brother, who was supposed to be coronated, was unexpectedly killed. The young king faced a lot of impending turmoil, such as a brewing war with France and strife at home. Historically, he rose to the occasion and became one of the most famous English rulers of all time, even earning his own self-titled play from William Shakespeare.
This will be yet another team up between Plan B and Netflix after last year’s War Machine. Chalamet will also otherwise be appearing in another Plan B film in the near future, starring alongside Steve Carell in the Amazon Studios drama Beautiful Boy. Also upcoming, is his appearance in Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day in New York (which he has since publicly denounced).
