Oscar Isaac’s Role in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

Actor Oscar Isaac recently starred in the hit blockbuster reboot Star Wars: The Force Awakens last year, but he is also quickly making a name for himself as one of the most dynamic actors in Hollywood.

Isaac will be unrecognizable in his next role as the world’s first mutant when X-Men: Apocalypse comes out in theaters this May. Isaac plays the supervillain, Apocalypse, who the X-Men must defeat in order to save the entire human race from extinction. The actor spoke in recent interview with Entertainment Weekly about what it took to create the look of his character, which required two hours of makeup work a day and heavy use of visual effects to bring the blue mutant to the big screen. Isaac also talked about finding a balance between using great elements from the comic and creating an original look for the film.

In another interview with Indiewire, Isaac explained his unique and mythically related approach to the character:

And just because something’s natural doesn’t mean that it’s interesting — and I think [Stanley] Kubrick knew that very well. Sometimes it’s fun to push performance into other places that is not just about the same kind of verité thing. You can go to heightened places in a Greek tragedy or kabuki kind of way. You have these forms that express more than just an individual’s personality. And that’s been really fun to play with in X-Men.

Oscar Isaac has only begun to show fans his real star power onscreen and promises to give audiences an epic performance in X-Men: Apocalypse this May. Isaac is currently busy filming Star Wars: Episode VIII and will be starring in The Promise opposite Christian Bale later this year.
