‘Orange Is The New Black’ Scribes Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo to Write MGM’s GameStop Stock Film, ‘The Antisocial Network’

MGM has signed on Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo to write the feature adaptation of Ben Mezrich’s The Antisocial Network, which tells the story of ragtag group of amateur investors, gamers and internet trolls who brought Wall Street to its knees, according to Deadline. Blum and Angelo are mostly known for their work on Netflix’s now-finished series Orange is the New Black, but the two are also set to write Leigh Whannel’s upcoming Wolfman film which stars Ryan Gosling.

MGM acquired the rights to Mezrich’s book proposal in January, only week after the story began taking shape on Wall Street. There are multiple projects in the works about the event, including one at Netflix with Noah Centineo attached to star. Mezrich previously worked with MGM on the adaptation of his book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, Tale of Sex, Money Genius and Betrayal, which was made into David Fincher‘s Oscar-winning film The Social Network.

Academy Award nominee Aaron Ryder of the Ryder Picture Company is set to produce. Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who were portrayed by Armie Hammer and Josh Pence in The Social Network, will executive produce The Antisocial Network via their Winklevoss Pictures production banner.

There still isn’t a director attached to the project and it’s unclear when the film will release, but MGM has made it clear that it’s a priority. The book the film is based on will not be released until later this fall.
