Official Teaser Trailer for ‘Toy Story 4’ Released

Disney has just revealed its first trailer for Pixar’s upcoming film Toy Story 4. The animated sequel has a release date of June 21, 2019, and is directed by Josh Cooley, who directed the short film Riley’s First Date. While the trailer itself does not show much other than giving a short introduction to a new character named Forky, the video’s description does provides some insight into the movie’s plot.

Apparently the story will continue from where things left off at the end of the last film. Andy’s old toys, including Buzz and Woody (once again played by Tim Allen and Tom Hanks respectively), are now thriving under the ownership of Bonnie. However, their peaceful new lives are interrupted by the introduction of the new character named Forky, who is a plastic fork that Bonnie has decorated to look like a toy. In the trailer Forky seems to be disgusted with his own existence, lamenting that he is not a real toy, and somehow Forky’s involvement will lead the toys to embark on a road trip. Based on the trailer it looks like all the main toys will be returning, including Jessie, Bullseye, Mr & Mrs. Potato Head, Rex, Hamm, Slinky Dog, and the aliens from Pizza Planet.

Right now it is difficult to predict where the plot of the film will go, or what the quality of the film will be. Many Pixar fans are excited to have another Toy Story movie, but there are still people who felt comfortable having the series conclude with the third film. It’s a common complaint that the studio has been releasing a lot of sequels that are not as great as their original films. However, most fans of Pixar seem to view the Toy Story franchise as an exception to this rule, with many people and critics claiming that the Toy Story films improve as the series continues.

While it’s far too early to pass judgement yet, you can catch a brief glimpse of what Toy Story 4 will bring to the table by watching the teaser trailer below.
