The saviors of Earth realm drop into the 2025 Comic-Con to offer fans a glimpse into the latest high-stakes installment in the blockbuster video game-inspired film franchise Mortal Kombat II. Guest of the panel consisted of Ed Boon (Death Battle, Rambo vs Johnny Cage) as Ed the Bartender, Adeline Rudolph (Hellboy: The Crooked Man, Listening In) as Kitana, Karl Urban (The Boys, Batman: Death in the Family) as Johnny Cage, Martyn Ford (House of David, Those About to Die) as Shao Kahn, Tati Gabrielle (The Last of Us, The 100) as Jade, director Simon McQuoid (Mortal Kombat, The Night-Time Economy) and writer Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight, Fantastic Four).
Slater spoke about how the first Mortal Kombat film was made to lay down the groundwork for this upcoming blockbuster. The second film will feel more like a full feature-length version in comparison as they have only scratched the surface of the franchise. Although there is more work to be done, the film will show fans’ favorite characters go through many emotions and dramatic moments. Slater also mentioned how difficult but rewarding it was to balance the script due to there being at least 20 main characters in the film and sadly, he couldn’t make the movie six hours long.

Urban then speaks about his character Johnny Cage and how, when he is first seen in the film, he is discouraged. Cage’s career had tanked and he gave up practicing any form of martial arts while the world started forgetting the broken man he is until he got the invitation to the tournament.
They showed a long sneak peek at the film, showing Earth Realms heroes speaking to Baraka and asking him to join their journey to defeat Shao Kahn. This leads to Cage and Baraka engaging in a duel that Cage seemed to be losing at first. This is until he put his sunglasses on and started being the actor he is known for being in his films. Cage finished the duel with his signature nut punch, where he does a split and punches the enemy at full force in their crotch.

Mortal Kombat II will air in theaters on October 24, with a third installment already being written.
