‘Number One On The Call Sheet’ Set For Apple TV+ Release

Number One on the Call Sheet is co-directed by Reginald Hudlin and Shola Lynch and concerns itself with the history of Black Hollywood by illustrating it as a celebration as well as a reflection for how far it has come. The documentary will include insight from known actors such as Will Smith, Whoopi Goldberg, Halle Berry, Dwayne Johnson, Angela Bassett and Jamie Foxx. Producer Datari Turner commented how the film will be two parts on Apple TV+ by stating,

“We have a lot of movie stars…but we’re in a great time where we can even say what we have that many number ones. It was seeing black actors and actresses come out of the gate, have a big opening, they’re leading men, they’re doing two to four, films, and something happens where they end up on a TV show where they’re not able to sustain their leading man or leading woman status. I was always very curious about what happened to this person’s career.”

Each segment of Number One on the Call Sheet will use talking heads and archival footage chronicling Black Hollywood History through a narrative thread. Shola Lynch was noted by saying how although there are more opportunities for Black actors in Hollywood now, there is still much work to be done. She is quoted by saying,

“There is no one standard for success, and there is no one route. We each have to figure out our way, and that’s the inspiring part of these stories, is that it makes you ask that question, ‘What am I doing to be number one on my call sheet?'”

Number One on the Call Sheet is available for streaming on Apple TV+.
