Following the release of Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve has been circling his next project. He is now set to direct an adaptation of Nuclear War: A Scenario.
Nuclear War: A Scenario comes from author Annie Jacobsen. Published in March of 2024, she picks apart the possibilities of a nuclear war, and the ramifications it would have on the world.
Dune: Part Two and its predecessor are the director’s take on Frank Herbert’s 1965 Sci-Fi novel, and Villeneuve has also stated that he plans to conclude the story of Paul Atreides through an adaptation of Dune: Messiah.
On top of the Dune films, Villeneuve boasts a vast filmography of acclaimed works. One of his most beloved is Blade Runner 2049, the sequel to 1982’s classic Blade Runner. He also helmed Arrival, Sicario, and Prisoners, among many others.
As ScreenRant points out, Villeneuve’s take on Nuclear War will most likely come after Dune: Messiah. Messiah has recently been given the green light, thanks to Part Two’s massive success, both critically and financially.
