‘Nosferatu’ Remake to be Directed by Robert Eggers

One of the most famous vampires in cinema history, Nosferatu, will be brought back to life in a new reboot. The project was recently picked up by Robert Eggers, director of The Witch (2015), film which drew a great deal of popularity for being the most horrifying movie to come out last year. The director confirmed his involvement during a recent Indiewire podcast.

The original 1922 horror film became a classic for pushing the boundaries for movies in general. The movie came out before talking pictures were developed, but still influenced future horror films in style, framing, use of color, and most notably makeup that transformed Max Schreck into an absolute ghoul. Hopefully this new interpretation can live up to the original.

Bringing the classic vampire tale to the modern age will be done by Robert Eggers, known for his work in horror films. His most recent hit, The Witch, depicts a family in the 1630s as they are haunted by a witch that slowly tortures and kills off the family. This movie is evidence that Eggers can pull off a periodic horror film, and having him write and direct this reboot film is very exciting.

The film will moving into pre-production very soon with no current release date, cast list, or any other information about the film.
