Nnamdi Asomugha (Sylvie’s Love) is set to join Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne in Netflix’s upcoming serial killer film The Good Nurse, as confirmed by Deadline. The Good Nurse is based on the book of the same name by Charles Graeber and is scripted by 1917 scribe Krysty Wilson-Cairns. This will be Danish director Tobias Lindholm’s (Another Round, A Hijacking) first English-language feature.
The Good Nurse will tell the true story of the capture of Charlie Cullen, a nurse who is considered one of the most notorious serial killers in history. Cullen seems to be the perfect family man, but has a huge secret in which he killed as many as 300 patients over 16 years, spread across nine hospitals in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Redmayne will be playing Cullen, while Chastain will be playing the nurse whose stubburn pursuit to stop Cullen helped end the murder spree. It has also been confirmed that All-Pro NFL player-turned-actor and producer Asomugha will play Danny Baldwin, one of the lead police detectives who works with Chastain’s character.
Lindholm is the regular writing partner of Thomas Vinterberg, in which he helped on hit movies such as The Hunt and 2021 Oscar nominee Another Round. He most recently wrote and directed HBO Max mini-series The Investigation.
The film is being produced by Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa and FilmNation. The Good Nurse is set to begin filming in April on the East Coast.
