Danish director, Nicolas Winding Refn (Valhalla Rising, Drive, Only God Forgives) recently sent out a tweet announcing the name of his next his next film project:
The silence has been broken my next film will be I WALK WITH THE DEAD shooting in LA
— Nicolas Winding Refn (@NicolasWR) June 6, 2014
Not much is known about the plot I Walk With the Dead so far, but according to Twitchfilm, it will be an “all-female horror flick.” The cast is a mystery as well, but given Refn’s propensity for working with actors on multiple projects don’t be surprised if Bryan Cranston (Drive), Christina Hendricks (Drive), Kristin Scott Thomas (Only God Forgives), Ryan Gosling (Drive, Only God Forgives), or Mads Mikkelsen (Pusher II, Bleeder, Valhalla Rising) show up on the cast list. Carey Mulligan (Drive) was at one time rumored to be involved, but that’s not at all certain at this point. The script is being written by playwright Polly Stenham (That Face, Tusk Tusk, No Quarter).
Refn’s most recent film, Only God Forgives received heavily divisive mixed reception – especially compared the critical darling, Drive. Of course, even the best directors have a few blackspots on their filmography, so given Refn’s track record there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about I Walk With the Dead. If nothing else, viewers can expect some beautiful camera work, and an interesting color pallet.
