Rocko’s Modern Life is getting its very own movie. For those who do not remember Rocko’s Modern Life, it was an animated sitcom that came out in the eary 1990’s. The show followed the adventures of a wallaby named Rocko and his friends, Filburt the turtle, Heffer the steer, and his neighbors the Bigheads who are cane toads. The series was notable for having mature humor and for satirizing (at least at the time) modern society.
Though the show was cancelled decades ago Netflix is planning on bringing Rocko’s Modern Life back to the modern age with feature length movie titled Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling. A short trailer for the movie can be found below The premise of the movie follows Rocko and his friends who get trapped in space and return home 20 years later only to find out that everything in the world has changed since the 90’s.
The movie was written by the show’s original creator Joe Murray along with Martin Olson and Doug Lawerence, who also voices the character Filburt. The show’s original voice actors will be returning to voice their characters including Carlos Alazraqui who plays the titular Rocko, Tom Kenny who voices Heffer, Charlie Adler who voices both Mr. & Mrs. Bighead, Linda Wallem who is Dr Hutchison. Other cast members include Jill Talley, Steve Little, Cosmo Segurson, Tom Smith, and Dan Becker.
Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling will be available to stream on Netflix on August 9th of 2019.
