Nia Long is set to star in the Inner City Films‘ upcoming drama Dreams of the Moon, directed by Alfons Adetuyi (Love Jacked). Long will also serve as an executive producer on the project and will costar alongside Eden Duncan-Smith, whose previous work include the 2015 movie Meadowland and the Netflix/Spike Lee-produced film See You Yesterday. Denis Foon penned the screenplay, with Inner City Films and Spier Films producing the film. Shooting will reportedly begin this April in South Africa. The two companies have collaborated before on Netflix’s rom-com Love Jacked, which stared Amber Stevens West, Shamier Anderson, Mike Epps, and David Keith.
Inspired by a true story, Dreams of the Moon indie revolves around an African-American teenage girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut in her small mining town, set in 1971 against the backdrop of the secret NASA Apollo 16 training mission.
Other projects for Long include The Banker, which was produced by Apple TV+ and will soon be released onto the big screen. She recently wrapped up production on Fatal Affair for Netflix, in which she serves as both star and producer on the film.
