Good ol’ Charlie Brown is back, along with the whole gang, in the new CG feature The Peanuts Movie. And for those who feared that a new version might take the beloved characters in new, unfamiliar directions, fear not – the trailer shows that the spirit of creator Charles Schultz is very much alive and well here.
The new trailer features many classic moments that Peanuts devotees will embrace, along with some new themes. As is to be expected, a central tenant of the plot is the enduring friendship between Charlie and his loyal dog, Snoopy. In addition to the familiar storylines, a side plot follows Charlie on a quest to make something of himself, to ‘”start over with a clean slate.” Oh, and then there is that matter of the Little Red-Haired Girl…
The film maintains the authenticity of Schultz’s work due in part to the presence of his son Craig and grandson Bryan, along with Bryan’s writing partner Cornelius Uliano, attached as writers and producers. Steve Martino (Ice Age: Continental Drift) is directing. The film hits theaters in 3D on November 6, helping to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the legendary comic strip and the 50th anniversary of the classic TV special A Charlie Brown Christmas.
