Julianne Moore (The Hours) stars as a run-down Hollywood starlet haunted by the ghosts of her past in David Cronenberg’s (A History of Violence) latest satirical drama Maps to the Stars. Also featuring John Cusack (Grosse Point Blank) as her self-help therapist, their worlds are shaken up when Cusack’s daughter (Mia Wasikowska, Stoker) returns to town after being released from a psychiatric hospital.
Like most Cronenberg fare, the film features a world of violence and chaos wrapped in decadence.
Moore received Best Actress accolades from the Cannes Film Festival after the film’s premiere and is also nominated in the Best Actress- Comedy or Musical category for the film at this year’s Golden Globe Awards. Moore will next star with Ellen Page (Juno) in Freeheld and in the last installment of The Hunger Games trilogy.
Check out the new trailer for Maps to the Stars below in which Cronenberg’s former leading actor Robert Pattinson (Cosmopolis) also appears. It will be released theatrically and on digital platforms February 27.
