Focus Features slates their new film You Won’t Be Alone to debut in theaters on April 1st. The second trailer released showed more insight into this new horror film by Director and Writer Goran Stolevski.

You Won’t Be Alone takes place in 19th century Macedonia and follows a girl stolen and transformed into a witch. Then, she begins her journey to discover the human experience when she accidentally kills a nearby villager. Disguising herself as the young victim, this witch undergoes the hardships of human life attempting to find solace amidst her own “horrific power”.

“Like nothing we’ve never seen before,” The Guardian comments. “and like nothing we’re likely to see again.”

Presenting a fresh take on the recent trend of folk horror, You Won’t Be Alone premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival receiving wide praise from a variety of critics. Reports note it is a mainly dialogue-free film with supplemental narration pushing the story along.

The Guardian continued noting the film captures “A witch [discovering] life, love and death via the bodies of others in a beautifully made and moving treatise on what it it means to be human.”

The film stars Noomi Rapace as the newly transformed witch with Anamaria Marinca, Alice Englert, and more joining the cast.  The full trailer can be found below.
