New Trailer Released For ‘Marty Supreme’

Timothée Chalamet in 'Marty Supreme'

A new trailer has been released for Marty Supreme. The film stars Timothée Chalamet as Marty Straussman and follows his rise to stardom as a ping pong player. The film’s story is being described as loosely based on the life of real-world table tennis player Marty Reisman. Where the first trailer showcased the film with a more upbeat, underdog sports movie tone, this second trailer adopts a more serious tone, highlighting the hurdles Chalamet’s Marty must overcome to achieve success.

The film is directed by Josh Safdie, marking his solo directorial debut after collaborating with his brother, Benny Safdie, on films such as Good Time and Uncut Gems. Benny Safdie released his own solo debut earlier this year with the sports drama The Smashing Machine, which starred Dwayne Johnson as UFC fighter Mark Kerr.

In addition to directing, Josh Safdie also co-wrote Marty Supreme with Ronald Bronstein. And in addition to Timothée Chalamet, the film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher.

The film is reportedly an ambitious project for A24, as it is the studio’s most expensive film to date, with an estimated budget of around $70 million. Marty Supreme will be released in theaters by A24 on December 25th. The new trailer can be viewed below:
