After what was almost a full year of postponement, Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is nearly here. Yesterday, Warner Bros. released another trailer for the film. Ritchie is bringing his distinctive style to the world of Camelot in this Action/Adventure film, and this may have some fans worried. This is a significant shift away from what Ritchie generally delivers, but from what we’ve seen in the teaser and last two trailers, it looks as though he’ll pull it off again. Many were skeptical in his ability to successfully function as director within the parameters of the world of Sherlock Holmes. However, it turned out that injecting Ritchie’s brand of storytelling into a different period only amplified the appeal of both. We’re excited to see what the iconoclast will do this time around.
The film is to star Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) as King Arthur, a young man from the streets who learns that the throne was stolen from him when he was a child. Jude Law (The Young Pope) will play his Uncle Vortigern, the man who murders Arthur’s father and takes the title of King. Also cast are, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey (I Origins), Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), and Eric Bana (Munich).
The film will be in theaters on May 12. Watch the trailer below.
