The latest trailer for Bob Marley: One Love was released Tuesday, showing Peaky Blinders actor Kingsley Ben-Adir donning the icon’s famous dreadlocks and Jamaican patois accent. The biopic will tell the story of Marley’s life, including the failed assassination attempt against the reggae singer at his home in Kingston, Jamaica. The assassination attempt only pushed Marley to further his revolutionary message of unity and love in a time of division.
Alongside Ben-Adir, the film will co-star Lashana Lynch as Marley’s wife, Rita Marley, and James Norton as record producer Chris Blackwell. Jesse Cilio, Michael Gandolfini, Nadhine Marshall, and Anthony Welsh will also star in the film from Plan B Entertainment, State Street Pictures and Tuff Gong Pictures Production.
The film was produced in partnership with the Marley family with Marley’s widow, Rita Marley, and his children Cedella Marley and Ziggy Marley serving as producers on the project as well as Orly Marley, Ziggy Marley’s wife, serving as executive producer. In addition to Marley’s family members, Richard Hewitt, Matt Solodky, and Brad Pitt are executive producers while Robert Teitel, Dede Garner, and Jeremy Kleiner are producers.
The film is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, and it is based on a script written by Green along with Terence Winter, Frank E. Flowers, and Zach Baylin. The script’s foundation comes from a story written by Winter and Flowers.
If you are interested in seeing the film, Bob Marley: One Love will be out in theaters on Valentine’s Day of 2024.
