While the upcoming Venom movie warrants skepticism, there’s still a decent amount of anticipation behind its release. Much like Deadpool and Logan, it is one of the few R-rated comic book movies set for a theatrical release, albeit with a narrative that leans towards the horror-thriller. This will hopefully allow Venom to not only differentiate itself on the big screen, but also provide a more comic-accurate take on the character compared to what fans got in Spider-Man 3.
Now, Sony China has confirmed that a new trailer for the Tom Hardy-led film will debut on Tuesday, July 31. According to the social media account of Chinese Box Office tracker Gavin Feng, the trailer will be released at 9 P.M. Beijing Time, or 6 A.M. Pacific Standard Time. Few plot details about the film have been revealed, save for director Ruben Fleischer’s statement that Venom will take inspiration from the Lethal Protector and Planet of the Symbiotes storylines. Furthermore, it was revealed at San Diego Comic Con that Venom’s outfit would not feature the trademark white spider-emblem due to the lack an interaction between Spider-Man and the symbiote in this universe.
