New ‘Spider-Man’ Film Scheduled For 2026 Summer Release; Destin Daniel Cretton Set To Direct

The new Spider-Man film will be hitting theaters July 24, 2026. Tom Holland is reprising his title role and Destin Daniel Cretton will be directing.

This announcement comes after Holland’s recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where he teased that the new movie was in the works. He said, “Next summer, we start shooting. Everything’s good to go — we’re nearly there,” Holland said. “Super exciting. I can’t wait!”

Earlier this year, Cretton had been reported as director, but there was no confirmation as to whether Holland or Zendaya would be returning. Holland is now confirmed, but we are still awaiting an update on Zendaya returning to the fourth film. Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige are back as producers for the new installment.

The latest Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man No Way Home, became the seventh highest-grossing movie of all time at the global box office garnering $1.95 billion. Jon Watts has directed all of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films. The three Spider-Man Sony-Disney Marvel Studios movies have grossed $3.96 billion.

Cretton directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film grossed $432.2 million at the global box office.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment have not always seen eye to eye throughout this Spider-Man collaboration. However, they have been working through their differences to make these projects happen.
