Ryan Reynolds posted a sneak peek of his new movie IF on social media. The first look into the movie came in the form of a post on X, where Reynolds shared the poster for the film being directed by John Krasinski.
John Krasinski has made a return to directing following his work on A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II. IF will have quite a different tone to the Jack Ryan star’s previous films with a family film featuring a star-studded cast of live-action and voice-over roles.
The cast includes big names: Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gosset Jr, Cailey Fleming, and Krasinki’s The Office co-star Steve Carrell.
The title for IF stands for Imaginary Friends, which was the original name for the film before being changed to the current title. The promotional poster posted by Reynolds featured a large fuzzy, purple hand reaching out of a sun-soaked window with the tagline, “A story you have to believe to see.”
IF has been described as “the tale of a man who can see and talk to people’s imaginary friends, befriending those that have been forgotten or discarded. However, some imaginary friends, lacking love and friendship, turn to the dark side, and it’s up to Reynolds’ character to save the world from those that become evil.”
IF originally started production back in 2019, but experienced many setbacks with the pandemic and the strike. The film is now set to be released on May 17, 2024, by Paramount+.
