Next November, comedy fans are going to have one big reason to be thankful – New Line Cinemas has just announced it will be releasing a sequel for 2011’s surprise-hit, Horrible Bosses. There’s little word on the exact premise for the sequel, but we do know that the film is going to see Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis all returning to, most likely, take out some work related frustrations on their superiors. Sean Anders, who’s last directorial efforts were the Sandler/Samberg comedy That’s My Boy and 2008‘s Sex Drive, will be taking the reins from Seth Gordon. Screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein will be returning to pen the script based off of characters originally written by Michael Markowitz.
The original Horrible Bosses was met with mostly positive reviews and grossed up to $207 million worldwide. With The Hangover series completed it seems appropriate that Hollywood is pushing for another big comedy franchise, and we’ll have to wait another year to find out if this is going to be it.
