Edgar Wright has had success in the past decade, with huge films such as Shaun of the Dead (2004) Hot Fuzz (2007) and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010). Although mainly known for his comedy films, he is delving full on psychological horror in his upcoming film Last Night in Soho. Originally expected to release last year before being delayed to 2021, the plot of the film has remained tightly under wraps.
What is known is that it is a London-set film, and will focus on a young fashion designer (Thomasin McKenzie), who mysteriously enters the 1960s and encounters her idol, a wannabe singer. London is not as it appears, and considering this is a horror film, something terrifying seems to happen in 1960s London. Mckenzie is known for her roles in Leave No Trace (2018), and Jojo Rabbit (2019).
Empire released a new image of McKenzie, where we can see her with a bloody nose, looking absolutely terrified. The film will also star Anya Taylor-Joy (Split (2016) & The Queen’s Gambit (2020)), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), as well as legendary British actors Terrence Stamp and Diane Rigg. This was Rigg’s final performance, as she sadly passed away in September 2020. The film currently has a release date of April 23, 2021.
