Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air) – who has previously held a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for her rendition of ‘Cups’ in Pitch Perfect – will flex her singing pipes once more in the Disney film adaptation of Steven Sondheim’s stage musical, Into the Woods. The above clip sees Kendrick, in full Cinderella regalia, singing a snippet of ‘On the Steps of the Palace’ as she flees from Prince Charming (Chris Pine). This scene has been altered from the original stage production, occurring during the event instead of after, while freezing Prince Charming in time. There are also some new lyrics added to the famous song, all rewritten by Sondheim himself just for the film. Audiences will get yet another dose of Kendrick’s song and dance talents once Pitch Perfect 2 debuts next year on May 15th. Into the Woods opens this Christmas.
