Netflix has released a new collection of images coming from the film Blonde, a biopic about Marilyn Monroe starring Ana de Armas. One thing getting audiences intrigued about the picture is its daring rating of an NC-17, making it the first of its kind for a streaming service exclusive.
The series of stills comes from Vanity Fair, showing Ana de Armas alongside contemporaries such as her husband Joe DiMaggio in a shot during what seems to be during the shooting of River with No Return when she broke her ankle. Another shows de Armas learning the choreography for Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend from the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, where de Armas looks like a spitting image of Monroe. The final two shots are promotional materials for the film.
The film itself seems to be a pull no punches affair, with the film gaining an ultra-rare NC-17. Despite this, Netflix has picked the film up for a September 23rd release date. The film is a multi-year Shakespearean tragedy based off of the 1999 novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates. The film is helmed by Andrew Dominik, the director behind The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
