New Halsey Horror Film Set To Film In Montreal This Month

Musical artist Halsey and her fiancé Avan Jogia (56 Days) are set to begin filming their new horror film Replacer on the 16th of this month. The movie is being co-written and directed by Jogia, with Halsey in her first lead role. She recently starred in Maxxine alongside Mia Goth (Pearl). Joining Halsey in this film are actor Karl Glusman (The Bikeriders) and Juliette Gariépy (Red Rooms). The movie follows Halsey as Proxy, a DJ who becomes friends with another artist who runs an underground radio station in Montreal. A mysterious signal within the subway messes with the radio station, and Proxy must escape before the mysterious signal changes them all.

Besides acting and recording music, Halsey has also recently been producing films. Her most recent project was Our Hero, Balthazar, starring Jaeden Martell (2017’s It) and Asa Butterfield (Hugo). The movie follows a wealthy boy trying to stop an act of extreme violence. In Q and A, Halsey talks about the film, responding after the director, Oscar Boyson, thanked her for having the willingness to help make this movie happen,

I definitely really connected intensely because I think that, you know, art like this… something that’s so engaging and exciting and topical and it’s brave and it’s risky but you’re Trojan horsing so many real emotional moments…I think that translates into this format the best way. I mean the reason I do it actually is because I’m inspired by the way it translates in this medium.
