So far the people behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (and Vol. 1) have proven that they can do no wrong, as such, it comes as no surprise that the trailer they released hours ago was just as electrifying as their previously released content. Watching this trailer felt like chugging a Red Eye while a beloved friend reminds you that they’re coming to town soon, and Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” plays full-blast in the background. That last bit you won’t have to try to imagine too hard—The Chain plays throughout the trailer. As a matter of fact, don’t bother imagining any of it. Watch it yourself when you’re done with this article.
The beauty about a Guardians sequel is that the first movie was so huge it’s nearly impossible for them to make the same mistake as every other sequel. They don’t need to “go big” on this installment to make it stand out from the first. In terms of action and humor they just need to repeat what they already pulled off, audiences will happily eat up more of the same. In regard to the plot, enough has changed to keep audiences engaged. We get to see how the team is coming together more as a family, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Gamora’s (Zoe Saldana) relationship seems to be blossoming, and apparently we’re going to learn more about Star-Lord’s father.
The film will be released on May 5th. Watch the trailer below.
