While this Halloween might be underwhelming in the sense we are not getting the return of Michael Myers as we were initially promised, Blumhouse is still preparing for his return in 2021. Halloween Kills, the follow up to the 2018 revival, was delayed till 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic. In preparation for the film’s new release, Blumhouse released a short little sneak peak of the upcoming horror sequel.
The trailer starts with a jack-o-lantern with narration from Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), stating that, “Next Halloween, when the sun sets, he kills”, which is obviously referring to Michael Myers. We see a quick shot of Michael picking up the mask and then a quick montage of Michael Myers chasing and harming various unnamed victims with a few shots of Laurie looking very concern about the situation they are in now. All set with the iconic Halloween music there in the background.
Set to be a continuation of the 2018 Halloween revival, this sequel seems to promise a lot of violence and scares in the same vein the last film did. While it is disappointing that we are not able to witness Myers’ return this year, not only will next year make up for it, but in 2022, there will be another sequel set to cap off the end of this new revival franchise, with Halloween Ends. While we may have to wait a little longer for Laurie and Michael Myers’ final showdown, the fact fans are getting two Halloween films back to back more than makes up for it.
Halloween Kills is set for release October 15th 2021.
