Netflix has been on roll with their top notch releases like Stranger Things, Black Mirror, BodyGuard and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs just to name a few. It looks to continue that streak with the release of the trailer for a new original title, Velvet Buzzsaw.
The trailer showcases Jake Gyllenhaal, Toni Collette and John Malkovich as harsh art critics and dealers who are constantly searching for the next big thing. They then come across these paintings that they find mesmerizing and genius in their presentation. But it is soon revealed that the paintings have a much more sinister backstory and end up haunting anyone who comes in contact with them. The entire vibe of the trailer is injected with an electric soundtrack and a disturbing sense of dread throughout.
The writer and director Dan Gilroy was the mind behind the excellently made Nightcrawler which marking their first collaboration together, starred Gyllenhaal as a disturbed news cameraman who will do anything to get the footage he needs.
It is hard not get excited over the release of the new trailer as it presents a stylish, horrifying and extremely interesting story with a multitude of veteran actors to enhance the experience even further.
