New Details On ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ Revealed

During a livestream of Thor: Ragnarok on Instagram, director Taika Waititi gave his fans some information on the upcoming installment to the Thor franchise. According to Waititi, along with Thor: Ragnorak stars Tessa Thompson and Mark Ruffalo, the script for Thor: Love and Thunder is currently going through the revision process.

How Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, who had joined the Guardians of the Galaxy last viewers saw him, will fit into the film is unclear, but according to Vin Diesel, who voices Groot, the Guardians will be appearing the movie. Thor: Love And Thunder also promises the return of Natalie Portman as the titular Thor’s lady love Jane Foster, who in this movie will be taking up the mantle of “Lady Thor”. Thompson’s Valkyrie, who had been named King of Asgard in Avengers: Endgame is also returning, said to be looking for her “queen”. Thompson confirmed that Christian Bale was cast of the villain of the movie, and Waititi promised over Instagram that his character Korg would be making a comeback.

Waititi indicated that Thor: Love And Thunder will be an even crazier ride than its predecessor. “It’s like 10-year-olds told us what should be in a movie and we said yes to every single thing,” Waititi stated. For fans of the comics, he added that “The combination of things as well, and some of the stuff from the comics… space sharks; if you look up space sharks, you’ll get a good idea of what this is.”

He also took the time to troll fans by showing a supposed page from the script, holding it up to the camera on his Instagram live. Fans were excited to see Tony Stark on the script, but on closer look, it appears to be another example of Waititi’s characteristic humor, as seen below.

Thor: Tony?!

Tony: Wazzuuuuurrp!

Thor: You’re back!

Tony: In the sack, baby!

Thor: But how? I saw you die.

Tony: Science. Also, Thanos is back.

Thor: Mother Frigga, no. So… we’re assembling again?

Tony: Again, again. It’s GO TIME. Everyone who died is coming back. And this time we’re avenging even more than ever. From now on we’ll be known as… The Avengerers.

Thor: Love And Thunder‘s release date has been moved from November 2021 to February 2022.
