A new dark comedy called Chili Finger is in development. The film tells the story of a recently empty-nester Midwestern mom who discovers a human finger in her bowl of chili at a fast-food restaurant. The mom, played by Judy Greer, decides to blackmail the restaurant for money. Soon afterward, everything spirals out of control, and her life unravels.
Chili Finger is being produced by Beyond the Porch and Gold Tree Studios, with John Goodman serving as executive producer. In addition to Greer, the cast includes Sean Astin, Bryan Cranston and Goodman. Other cast members are Sarah Herrman and Paul Stanko. The film will be co-directed by first-time directors Edd Benda and Stephen Helstad, with production by Sam Sandweiss, Tim Chonacas and Jo Henriquez.
“We couldn’t ask for a better cast to bring our quirky dark comedy to the big screen,” Benda and Helstad said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “We are grateful for the opportunity to share a sensational slice of Midwest life with audiences worldwide.”
Production on Chili Finger is expected to start in the spring. The film’s distribution will begin at the American Film Market in Las Vegas.
