Dianne Wiest (Edward Scissorhands) and Ciarán Hinds (Belfast) star in new comedy-drama This is Old Love of Mine, that recently acquired the help of WestEnd films for international sales before the TIFF Market.
The movie follows Wiest and Hinds as a married couple who divorce after Hinds’ character discovers his wife cheated on him in the early stage of their marriage. Maya Amsellem, Managing Director of the company, spoke with Deadline about the upcoming film.
“This Old Love Of Mine is a warm and witty portrait of a family thrown into chaos by a secret from the past. Dianne Wiest and Ciarán Hinds are an exceptional pairing to embody the humour, history and complexity of a marriage spanning decades. With Terry Loane’s deft balance of comedy and emotion, this is a universally relatable story about family, forgiveness and enduring love that will resonate with audiences around the world.”
Terry Loane (The Last Rifleman) is set to direct the movie that’s script was written by Eugene O’ Hare (Outlander). Deadline’s article also housed some thoughts directly from Loane.
“From the moment I read Eugene O’Hare’s script, I was drawn to its sharply observed, deeply human characters and its wonderful understanding of family life. Margo and Harry’s late-life crisis brings decades of love, resentment and regret to the surface, with humour and emotional truth. My approach will be warm, intimate and performance-led, preserving the film’s distinctly Irish character while exploring universal themes of love, betrayal and forgiveness.”
