We’re inside of two weeks until the release of Ant-Man, and Marvel has released a second trailer which, while it doesn’t show us much we didn’t see in the first trailer, does make its first overt reference to The Avengers, as well as a fun joke about Iron Man.
With a screenplay written by star Paul Rudd and Adam McKay – the writer/director known for teaming up with Will Ferrell on Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers – it’s always seemed a given that Ant-Man would lean more heavily on humor than past Marvel offerings. The jokes here about The Avengers and the Iron Man suit certainly seem to back that up.
Ant-Man of course stars Paul Rudd (This Is 40) as the titular character, who has the ability to shrink in size and increase in strength once he dons a powerful suit created by Dr. Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas (Last Vegas). Also starring are Evangeline Lily (Real Steel), Judy Greer (The Descendants), Bobby Cannavale (Blue Jasmine), and Corey Stoll (Netflix’s House of Cards) as the villain Yellowjacket. The movie was helmed by Peyton Reed (Yes Man), who stepped in after Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) left the project and Adam McKay turned down directing duties.
Ant-Man hits theaters on July 17th.
