The official trailer for A Minecraft Movie has just been released. It provides a closer look at the film, which initially received a lot of backlash for being live-action. However, this trailer gives insight into the way that the film will be handling this unique decision.
In the trailer, we get to see the story of the main character, Steve (Jack Black), and we also see the rest of the cast: Garret “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Jason Momoa), Natalie (Emma Myers), Dawn (Danielle Brooks), and Henry (Sebastian Hansen). They are all transported from the real world into the world of Minecraft. The combination of animation and live-action seems less out of place than it does in the previous teaser, and we get to look at more designs of creatures, such as the Iron Golem.
A synopsis of the film is as follows:
Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits – Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers), and Dawn (Brooks) – find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.
The film will provide an interesting look at the adaptation of video games to other forms of media, which is becoming an increasingly popular trend. You can find the new trailer here:
