Netflix is set to have a large presence at this year’s Annecy Animation Festival in France. Their biggest debut is set to be a sneak peek at the newest Wallace and Gromit film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The new Wallace and Gromit film (yet to announce a subtitle) is set to follow Wallace inventing a “smart” garden gnome that gains consciousness. Wallace’s loyal dog Gromit has to find a way to destroy the gnome before it is too late. The new film will be directed by Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham, the claymation experts behind Wallace and Gromit’s former adventures. This new film is the second full feature following Wallace and Gromit after 2005’s The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Most of the pair’s previous adventures are from short films or animated series.
Zack Snyder, who has developed a close relationship with Netflix through the release of his sci-fi epic Rebel Moon films, will screen parts of his new adult animated series Twilight of the Gods with Xilam Animation and Slimane Aniss. The series is set to retell Norse myths. Netflix is also set to debut the highly-anticipated Ultraman Rising, a new film based on an iconic anime.
Netflix will also be showing off The Twits, a Roald Dahl adaptation, Spellbound, a new season of the acclaimed series Arcane, and the final season of Big Mouth. The acclaimed Blue Eye Samurai and the short stop-motion series Pokemon Concierge will be part of the festival’s official competition.
